CD-R drive not recognized

I recently bought a Pioneer A05 DVD-burner for my DP 867 (mirrored). When I first installed it, OS X did a great job of recognizing it as well as the existing CD-R drive and even showed a dual drive eject icon up top. Very cool.

Then something changed, I don't know what. It must have been 10.2.4 I guess, because now OS 10.2.4 doesn't recognize both drives at the same time. (They are both mounted in the two main slots with the mirrored doors). When both drives are plugged in, OS 10.2.4 recognizes the original CD-R drive only. When I unplug it, the new A05 is recognized.

Any thoughts? I'd love to have both drives accessible.
 
I read somewhere else that somebody got them to work if they physically switched the position of the two drives.

If that doesn't work, check the jumper settings.
