CD-RW won't accept ANY CDs- HELP!

I have a quicksilver G4- if I put any CDs (audio or blank or application) in the CD-RW, it spins them up, then spits them out. So, basically, its totally useless! I have seen on other boards where other folks have had this problem, but I havent seen a solution- anyone know what to do?

Honestly, its to the point where my wife is asking me "Why did we get a Mac and not another PC?" :(
 
First, if this is a brand new machine, you are under warranty. Second, did you remove any files from the system folder? Is this running under OS 9 or OS X?
