I burned about 4 cd's earlier today and as i was burning the 5th one i got some sort of burn error and the disc tried to eject but wasn't able to do so.
it makes two noises as if it is trying to but it just wont go.

i tried the multiple methods like looking for the spring in the middle , holding the mouse button , tilting the macbook at a 45 degree angle, etc.

after 45 minutes i thought problem was solved as i finally just used double sided 3m tape and put it on my school id and was able to stick it onto the top part of the cd and yank it out while pressing the eject button at the same time.

i thought everything was ok but now i put any other cd in there and i get the same result.

suggestions please? how much would this cost to fix if my drive is broken?

This problem could be as simple as the drive out of place which is a common problem for MacBooks, which makes it nearly impossible to eject, this is an easy fix and the Apple store should do it for free.

By looking at your post it seems that it accepts the disc but it does not eject. Does is read any disc at all?

I'm pretty sure to replace the drive, depending on what kind you have, its around $200.

What model MacBook do you have?

It sounds like an alignment problem to me as well. Have either a technician look at it or do it yourself (only if the thing's out of warranty!), although that can be quite tricky. www.ifixit.com has guides, though they're not for the weak of heart. :)

The computer does still read my discs and i am out of my warranty now would apple still take care of that for free?

Well when I brought my sisters MacBook in, they asked what the problem was and they just took it and used a tool to fix it, but they did not ask if it was under warranty. So its worth a try and make sure you have an appointment at the Genius Bar and be on time, or they give you a hard time.

You can make an appointment here.
