change icon order (menubar items)

In 10.2.8 I was able to move icons on my topmost banner using apple+click+move with mouse.
In 10.3.1 I can't do it.
Any way to change the order of my icons up there?

Basically in all. For example:
first clock, then airport signal and finally battery...
Guess I am using the wrong term for that banner on top. ;)
Let's try this way: the white banner on top that changes with the applications but has the same icon conformation on the right side. :) ::feels ashamed::

Ok, that's the Menu. You can change the order by holding the Command key and dragging, or by the order in which they startup.

Wow, my eyes are getting old :(

Run the Disk Utility or fsck and see if it helps.

I suppose this means, that it is working at yours, right? (on 10.2.8 it was working here as well)
Hmmmmm...
Weird!

Yes, working fine for me. I fired up the PB to check and it works on that also.

Third-party menu icons are not command-draggable. Their order is determined by the order you launch them in, from right to left.

Ahhhhhhh, that was the solution. I was just trying on those third-party icons. You are right, I can move apple icons. A pity I can't do the same with the different ones.. :(
tnx phatcactus!

Stuff like Konfabulator. I think it's something like Apple's got two APIs for menu items, and they keep the nicer one private or something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, though, cuz I dunno.

Correct on that. Apple's menu items use private APIs, while any 3rd party developer has to use a different set. This is also why these 3rd party ones are applications rather than .menu bundles.
