HOW TO : change the port for web sharing in OS X.
By default it's on port 80 but I would like to change that port.
How do I ....

you need to be root to do this but you'll need to edit /etc/httpd/httpd.conf, search for the line that says "Listen 80" change the 80 to whatever port you'd like, you may also have to create a new firewall rule in the sharing pane to allow connections on that port, hope that helps.

yield - this board that you are in is for instructional howtos not for questions so a mod might move your post but since there is an answer on HOWTO there they may not but another thing to do before posting a topic is to search the forum because it may be a common problem, well just wanted to let you know so in the future the mods dont yell at you :D . But on another note welcome to the board!

 If you use BBEdit it will just ask you for your administrative password instead of making you switch to root (or even activate it in the first place).
