Changed Home Folder and Shortname yikes!

Hello,
So I use Mac OSX 10.6.4 and this morning I attempted to change the shortname and home folder name of my primary account. I did this by logging into a second account, going to system preferences, control clicking the account I wanted to change, clicking advanced options and changing the account name from "jessueluna" to "jessicamaffia". Then I changed the homedirectory from "/Users/jessueluna to /Users/jessicamaffia." Then I went into Utilities and in Terminal I typed: sudo mv /Users/jessueluna /Users/jessicamaffia. I gave my password and then I restarted the computer and logged into the account I had attempted to change. All of my settings (desktop, files, folders, etc) were changed to what looks like a default setting. So I attempted to change the homefolder once again by logging out and onto the secondary account, trying to rename the Account name and Home Directory again. I retried several times to no avail, then I tried renaming it to the original "jessueluna." now I am so confused and I cant access the files or anything on my main account. All I wanted to do was change the home folder name and the shortname, how do I recover that account and change those names?

sorry for your problems, but should you get it sorted, here is a little app that makes changing your shortname in 10.4 quite easy.
Better luck in your next attempt.

Hello,

You are going to have to wipe the machine and restore from your Time Machine backup. If you don't have a Time Machine backup or some other good backup utility that has been doing your backups, you are pretty much screwed..

Here's an article by the author of the app mentioned by jbarley, which works only for 10.3/4, I think. It contains some information pertinent to Leopard. Unfortunately, it may be too late to salvage your system.
