Unofficial Mac Genius
This thread didn't seem to fit into any other forums, so I'm asking it here.
I use a dvorak keyboard for my cube, and there's one thing that really annoys me. I have to memorize the positions of all the things like Command-Option-P-R and Command-S for them to work on startup. It seems that the qwerty keyboard is in the firmware or something and the Mac OS only changes the keyboard to dvorak somewhere during the startup sequence.
Also of note is that if I startup in single user mode, I also have to deal with typing on a dvorak keyboard where the output is as if I was typing on a QWERTY keyboard.
So my question is -- is there any way to change the default keyboard setup in the firmware so I don't have to deal with this problem? I'd be willing to do a few commands in the open firmware code if necessary, as long as they are safe.
