Chimera screenshots and review

Hi,

Has anyone here used Mozilla's Chimera web browser? I actually don't have a MacOSX machine of my own but I was curious about it. Does anyone use it and have screen shots of it? How does it compare to IE,Mozilla,netscape7?

chimera is the only way to go. it's quick. browsing, the interface, everything. tabs are great. bookmarking tabs is great. it's still a beta, so there are some things that need to be tweaked, like the history tab in the side bar is quite slow. it doesn't crash for me like it once did.
it doesn't quite have all the features as IE or mozilla, but it has the important ones (pop-up blocking, anti-aliasing, those little bookmark icon thingies ^_^, etc.)
chimera is the only browser other than IE that will allow me to check my bank balance online.

it still has a few javascript and CSS errors, but it handles most things quite nicely.
 
i love chimera. i browse 95 % of time with it.

it's very fast. no popups, with a modify also no banners (see the image thing; i added that) ... and develops really fast!!

omniweb is ugly and slower but even that is better than IE.

mozilla is heavy and has a lot of useless features. i dont care for mail or messanger incorporated in the browser as i never use them .. besides mozilla is slower.

simple. fast. and fast. cocoa build. if u enable cache it's very good. and has good crash feedbak too.

It is the my defult browser now. I love it. I have very few problems with it.

If you want to see screen shots (they are small) got to my site and then click on links.

Giaguara - where's the banner blocking code? Is that in CVS, or elsewhere? That is the one thing I can think of that makes me want to go back to iCab...

Try this link over at macosxhints. Works rather nicely.

Chimera/Navigator has been my default browser for a couple of months now.
 
Looks really nice. I think too bad it's only works for OSX. Im a linux user myself and Mozilla does the job but, I'm always up for new things.

Yes, that looks like the code i used about... :p

Blaqb0x .. use chimera sometimes and just to change, i use konqueror there. and just to change, i installed mandrake and decided i didnt like it so i formatted again and isntalled bakc the previous linux = redhat ;)

It does not only look nice, i enjoy most browsing with it ;)

Try Galeon or Phoenix. On GNU/Linux those would be the closest spiritual and functional equivalents to Chimera.
 
I just downloaded Chimera 3 days ago and it was my default Web Browser within minutes. It is fast and so far I haven't had it crash at all. It is very customizable too. WAHOO!!!!!! No more bloated IE or NN!!!!
 
hey it looks like i havent used IE for a month or more!! :p

when i find pages that dont work in chimera i try in icab... and then maybe in IE .. but if i cant surf something in chimera i probably dont come back to the page and if i can i send a complain mail to the ones who have done a page that i can't see.. !! ;)

Chimera has been my default browser for a long time. However, there's one thing I like about internet explorer. I'm able to option-click on a file and it doesn't ask me where I want to place it, it just downloads it to the folder I've specified in the preferences. It's great for when I have to download multiple files within a short period of time. Chimera asks where I want to place the file, for each file to be downloaded. A drag, at least when you're doing 36 different files to be placed in the same folder.

But Chimera asking input as the need arises is a good thing, too: when I want to bookmark a page it asks me what I want to name the link.... i like that! I usually give the link a two word description.
 
I haven't looked at IE in a few months ...Chimera has been really stable (and I use nightly builds) Mater of fact I don't even think I have IE on my system ... I rebuilt everything last week -- (cause I installed a new HD) -- Either way never did reload Office X and I remember deleting IE from the Application dir...... WWOO WWWOOOO I am currently M$ free !!!!! --- Now I just run OSX 10.2.3 ... and I installed KDE3 and gnome 1.4 ..... just need to figure how to play *.asf files now....

Chimera now does this too. Try one of the latest nightly builds. It will download the file to what you have specified in Internet Prefs.
