Am i right in asuming that classic and idvd are not bundled with Panther ?
i suppose i will need to purchase ilife to use idvd.? shame it's not there as i use it a lot.

A) No, Classic is not bundled with Panther. So you are correct in that sense.

B) What's wrong with using the version of iDVD that you already have? Why wouldn't it work in Panther?

i suppose that the draw back of installing clean, luckily i found it on my origional disk that came with my imac. keep forgeting the version of OSX that came with my imac is the dvd version and has loads of crap on there :)

was wondering why panther came on cd's instead of dvd, i suppose that would be because not all macs have a dvd drive but when they selling new hardware they must know buy default there is a dvd drive.

I think it's easier just to send them out on CD's... like you can't buy an upgrade version of Panther, you just buy Panther. I think they should sell 2 boxes, though: one with CD's and one with a DVD.

i agree the dvd install is a lot less painful and you an go do someting for 30 mins while it installs. None of this time time consuming disk changing lol. just kidding but a dvd verson would be lovely. there s also something deeply satisfying about holding the Panther box in my hands the cover tends to drag you in. it's one of the nicest os boxes i've ever seen. well as os boxes go :)
