Welcome to our forum ! :)

Check your System 9 folder for ObjectSupportLib. If you find it, trash it immediately and empty the trash.
If that does not correct the issue, go to the System 9 folder>Preferences.
Trash the following:
Classic preferences
Finder Preferences
Mac OS Preferences
System Preferences

Empty the trash, then give it a try.

Using the System Preferences>Classic in OS X, go to the Advanced tab and click on rebuild desktop at the very bottom.

If that does not correct the issue, use the OS X CD to boot the computer(insert CD, select restart, hold down the C key). When the installer screen opens, go to the Installer Menu and select Disk Utility. Run the repair until all is clear and you get HD appears to be okay.

You may need to get a third party utility such as Disk Warrior or Drive 10. Booting from that CD and repair the drive. Do not use Norton Utilities, because you have OS X on the drive. Norton does harm rather than good to OS X.
