Clean Install

I may need to reformat my OS X drive and do a clean install....my question is......when installing OS X is it required by the system to have a user defined area (Home) or is it possible to just keep my personal files and folders from the system like the music & movies folders at the root level? This is a personal home computer that only I use and I don't like having to use the "Home" area for my folder and file organization. Any help is appreciated.

No, you don't have to use the Home folder. As long as your the Adminstrator, you can put them at the Root level.

You might want to change the iTunes music folder to the folder in the root then for ease of use. I don't know if anybody knows how to do it in iMovie and especially iPhoto I would really appreciate it!
