Close lid and not goto sleep?

Hey guys,

I like to keep my internet connection running while I close my PB overnight. Is it possible to make it so that whenever I close the lid, the screen turns off but the powerbook would stay on, and retain the internet connection (wireless), so that my applications, such as AIM and everything else are still connected.

Is this possible?

Or better (in order not to have your screen melt overnight) just keep it a _bit_ open. Really: You shouldn't leave your PowerBook running with the lid closed for too long a time. You'll end up seeing lots of smallish 'prints' on the screen after some time. Just dim the monitor all the way down (i.e. dark) and leave the lid opened enough for the hot air to flow away.

This is one of those issues where, if you can afford a few bucks, grab an old computer of *any* type to run as a server to handle those kinds of full-time tasks. I'm fortunate in that I'm in the computer biz and come across old-machine deals and parts all the time. I've got two servers; one linux (Fedora III) and one Windows (Win2k server) so I can script/automate/run almost anything any time. PS... my latest used-box server cost me $200 and was a complete PIII-866 with 1 gig ram, 40 gigs hard drive, and a 10/100 NIC - basically everything I needed for about 1/3 the cost of new parts. Seriously, I'd consider ebaying a cheap linux-capable box if you're looking for full time application stuff.
