Command-Tab gone haywire

This is driving me nuts - Command-Tab has recently stopped working. Well, occasionally it will work but most of the time it does nothing. Sometimes I see it tabbing through a command bar and I can do one of Command/Option/Control - Tab with the same results - but I can no longer switch between applications.

I tried DragThing and it may have set some option for it seems this started around that time. I am not using DragThing now as I find I am fine without, but I use Command-Tab ALL the time and the loss of it is driving me to distraction.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks - Lawrence

Welcome to MacOSX.com!

It's amazing what kinds of glitches can occur. Have you recently installed something to enhance CMD-TAB? Witch, APE, whatever?

Also, what version OS X?

Hi Doug, 10.4.8 is what I am running. I tried DragThing which may or may not have fiddled with Cmd-Tab, although I do not know how, but I decided I did not need it; the dock does fine and I have enough links over on the left of the Finder window to move where I need rapidly and easily. I use Parallels, but it was fine before that. In Parallels I would use Cmd-Tab to move quickly back to Mac apps, but now Cmd-Tab switches between apps on Windows, same as Opt-Tab which is what I used before for the Windows app switching, now both Cmd and Opt do the same thing with tab on the Windows side.

What is maddening is that it is not always like this, some of the time Cmd-Tab works as it should whether Parallels is running or not - then equally likely, it will stop. Something seems to be switching Cmd-Tab off, or mapping it to something else; but I don't know what!

Anyway, thanks for your help, it really is maddening!

Lawrence
