Computer Boots in OPEN FIRMWARE

I just got my old g3 BW running after a longtime. Only problem is on start-up I get an open firmware screen. If I type mac-boot I get OS 9. I have tried everything to get os 10.4 to boot with no luck! I even tried my OS 10.4 CD.

I cant even boot-up with the CD.

Have you tried doing the following?

reset-nvram <return>
reset-all <return>

See if that does anything.
