computer to computer with WEP

I have a computer to computer network that works with 11Mb.
When I make a computer to computer network with WEP password protection I have a 54Mb connection; can see this in network utility. But I can't reach the other machine not even ping it.
Both the machines with 10.3.8, airport extreme, airport 4.1

Why not use/try WPA? It's a much better encryption method that WEP anyway.

I doubt it will help, but you could try placing $ before your WEP password. And, you could check this link out.

All the time I was trying a 40bit WEP encryption and that didn't work, after a few hours I tried a 128bit WEP encryption and that worked!
It runs on 54mb
