Hi there,

I hope someone can help me because I'm in one of those situations where Motorola says "Check with Apple" and Apple says "Check with Motorola"

I'm trying to configure a Motorola Wireless router (802.11g/b) to be password protected, however, the default settings will not allow my two macs to connect (an ibook w/ airport and a powerbook w/airport extreme)

I have a feeling that I just need to know the proper settings.

here are my choices:

ESS Authentication: Open System, Pre-shared Key (PSK), WPA, WPA-PSK
Encryption Status: None, WEP64, WEP128
802.1X: checked or unchecked (unchecked by default)
Key Input method: Pass phrase, Hexadecimal, ASCII
-------other options:
Key Index: 1, 2 (1 is default)
RADIUS Server Port #: 1812 (is default)

Any help you could offer would be awesome!! thanks.

I was able to configure the router so that the macs could connect:

using: ESS Authentication of type: WPA-PSK
and Status: TKIP

but... will PC laptops be able to connect with these settings... and..
is there a more secure setup that should work ? (for both macs & pcs to be able to connect)

?

thanks :)
