I have a late 2007 macbook pro with os x 10.4.11 and just tried to connect my new ipad to it so I can move files back and forth. However, when I plugged in the ipad, it said I need itunes 10.5, which I downloaded, and then it told me I need os x 10.5 as my operating system. Is there a way around this? Can I update to 10.5 with a free download? I cannot find my original install disc for 10.4.11. I am not super tech savvy, so any laymen advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You have to buy 10.5 retail version on DVD. There is no other way. No downloaded copy will work, nor is it legal.

Just now, coincidentally, I am selling my copy on eBay. This is not a solicitation, just information only.

So that is the only way I can get my ipad to communicate with my macbook pro is by having os x 10.5? what is the ebay link for the version you are selling? Thanks!

There is no good reason for you to stick with MacOS X 10.4 on your Intel-based Mac. iTunes 10.5 is just one of a plethora of applications that requires MacOS X 10.5 or later. You really should upgrade to at least MacOS X 10.6, but you will not be locked-out of so many of the latest and essential software versions with MacOS X 10.5.

Yes, as MisterMe said, 10.6 would be better than 10.5. However, you should have, at least, 1M Ram; more even better.
