Connecting PC to macosX & macos9

Well i have a network of 1 PC using win2000pro, 2 Macs using macosX v10.2, and 2 Macs using macos 9.2. The problem is that my PC can access both macs using macos9.2 but cant access macosX. I have pc-maclan installed on my PC so i access the macs through appleshare normally. The thing is that all 4 macs are using a local IP and my PC has a fiber optic connection using a different IP. When i didnt have the fiber optic connection on my PC and was using the same local IP as the macs everything was fine, all the macs could access PC and vica-versa, but now i can only access the macs using 9.2.
I checked all the settings on my Macs and they are all the same. So I'd like to know if this is a problem with macOSX or is there a diferent setting used than on macos 9.2.

Any suggestions are welocome, 10x.

Do you have filesharing on your macosx macs on? When you turn on windows sharing, you will not need pc-maclan anymore. Make sure the computers are all in the same subnet and gotten fixed ips. Also be sure the tcpip settings for the two network cards in your pc are correctly adjusted. Your wan connection should have an automatic ip and the lan network card should have a fixed one that is within the subnet of your lan. Can you ping within your lan? And why not simply get a router for this? They are darn cheap and they will allow you to easily access the internet and the lan.

Last but not least: welcome to the forum. :)

I have filesharing on both mac systems, but the problem is not actually sharing the file its seeing the Mac from the PC. The mac sees the PC ok but the PC cant find the macs on the network at all that's why i use pcmaclan and use appletalk.
The problem is that I only have one network card on my PC so i am not using it as a server, instead i just connected my wan directly to a switch which in turn connects to my macs and my PC. The PC is the only one to have an IP from my ISP and the rest are using local IPs all with the same subnet (that differ from that of the PC). But still I can connect to my old macs (the ones with 9.2) but cant connect to the new macs. Also i get no response from pings to my old macs or new, but i can still find the old ones on my network which is pretty wierd. I know its way easier to get a new NIC for the PC and use it as a server, or get a router, but at the moment i'm waiting for more IPs and then I probably will be able to use my new macs but untill the im stuck. But my problem is why can i connect to the macs using system 9.2 and not on the ones using 10.2, when they all have the same settings.
Thnx for the help and welcoming me to the board... GJ BTW

Did you check your settings in Directory Access that can be found in the Application/Utilities folder and make sure, Apple Talk is activated under service?

Yes i checked and its activated, the thing is that i see my 2 macs using appletalk, but when i try and connect it gives me the following error:
"PC MACLAN was unable to connect to the server. The network cofiguration of either system has a problem. PLease reboot both systems and try again or try connecting using the AppleShare IP Network."
And of course i tryed what it says but it still wouldnt connect. So i dont really know what the problem really is, is it some network configuration, even though thay are the same configs as the macs using 9.2, or is it some sharing or login problem that doesnt come up in 9.2.
10x again.

why not use TCP/IP instead of appletalk? This means you won't need to use maclan and need to turn on windows sharing. Did you ever try this?

Thing is i tried but im not really sure how to set it up, i've been using PC maclan for ages, since the days i was using a power mac 8100, which i still have today :). Only now i get these new macs with new OSX and it all gets way too complicated. I'll give it a go, hope it would solve this problem, i'll check out the forum for some tips, thnx.

My main problem is that when i look in the microsoft windows network i see only my PC in the workgroup. And nothing else. I have the same user and sharing set up on macs and they see my PC fine thru appletalk, so what do i need to set up, my macs or my pc, or all of em?

I don't think you will be able to see any mac over appletalk. Once you setup filesharing and windows sharing over the macosx macs, you will be able to see the macs in the network browsing window of winxp.

I've been having similar problems, and finally got the MAC to show up on the network using the PC. However, the MAC has two hard disks, and the files I want to share are on the second disk. Only the main hard disk appears. Is there a way to make the second disk visible? The second disk is already shared and visible to other MACs.
