Connecting to my G3 from my Powerbook

Hello Mac Forum,

I'm new to this today and wondered if anyone can help with a problem I have. I have a G3 beige powerbook on OS9.2 which is wired in to a Netgear DG834G wireless ADSL Modem router. I also have a G4 titanium powerbook on OS 10.3. Both machines are acessing the internet perfectly and the G3 can access the G4 via the chooser. The G4 can't seem to find the G3 though? I have all the file sharing on and the computer is shared but the click box which says enable file sharing clients to conncet over TCP IP is greyed out and unchecked. I'm sure I need to check it but I can't! Any help would be much appreciated.
When I type the IP address in the Connect to server window on the powerbook it says no response from server. The only icon in the servers window is the powerbook itself. I don't mind a one way conncetion but I need it so the G3 can be accessed from the powerbook.

Thankyou,

Tom.

I don't know if this is the most efficient way, but I connected the ethernet cable and then turned on Apple Talk on both machines. The whole HD on the G3 is set to sharing.

File sharing is on in the OSX system prefs.

Then I connect to the G3 using the Go menu in Finder/Network from the G4.

If you have a firewire port you could connect using target disc mode.
