Controlling US-EyeTv or similar from Germany?

Hi,

I have a question which concerns all types of PVR systems - but as I am a Mac user, I would appreciate a Mac solution.

I am a german Mac user and would like to archive/view certain US TV shows (especially live performances from different music artists) which are broadcasted by certain public TV stations.
The easiest way would be to use a normal satellite transmission but unfortunately their signals are out of reach here in Germany.
Another idea I have in mind is to use a digital video recorder device like an EyeTV 200/300 unit (or anything similar) which will be attached to a Mac/PC and transfer the recordings to Germany using the Internet.
In addition, I thought about finding out a person or ISP who offers a dedicated server solution with a cable/TV connection.

Well, that's all I have in mind. If someone could be of any assistance, I would appreciate it very much.

As I recall there was a time when I could watch certain Canadian TV stations via the internet in the good old days. However, they were shut down because of syndication problems, they could not legally show the programs outside of Canada. So I don't think that you will find any business doing what you want. I regularly watch the news from Finland via the internet but for similar licensing reasons they will not distribute the entertainment programs the same way.

Try watching the world hockey championships in the US some time. One year they did show the final game, in the middle of the night two weeks late :-( I would kill for a decent feed from the other side of the pond some days...

The CyTV link led me to an interesting product - but it's "only" a streaming solution ..;-)

I think it will be rather difficult to find an appropriate provider ...
