I have this computer:

Model Name: Power Mac G4
Model Identifier: PowerMac3,5
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
Processor Speed: 867 MHz
Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB
Memory: 1.12 GB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.2.5f1

Can I use Mac OS 10.5.x successfully? Does this computer have what is needed?

Out of ignorance and bravery, I have already loaded 10.5.x on my hard drive, and am having problems. So, I'm considering reinstalling my back up. Should I?

A couple of the problems I am having are:
1) logging in to the iTunes store (crashes), and
2) my scanner software also crashes.

Thanks for your help.

Your system does meet the minimum requirements for 10.5.

I wouldn't go back to 10.4 just based back on those two problems.

How much empty space/total space do you have on the hard drive?
Make sure at least 15 % of disk space is free.
Did you upgrade the 10.5 to the latest, 10.5.8? If not please do that.
Is there any newer software for your scanner? There probably is.
If you can't locate it, what specific scanner is it?
Also please upgrade iTunes to the latest version.

Revsam - this may not apply to you but it certainly did to me (when I upgraded to 10.5.8 this weekend)

You will lose the "classic OS9" option. I did not know that going into the upgrade. Now, marginal applications I used that needed OS 9 will need to be upgraded to versions that can operate on the OS X platform.

It may not seem like much in this OS X world - but now I have to upgrade 8 applications
