hey everyone. So i just bought a beautiful new ipod video and when I got home realized that all of my video podcasts weren't able to be transferred onto the ipod b/c they weren't in the right format. I got and d/l mmpegx, along with all of the required licensing stuff, and proceeded to convert my podcast videos into the ipod h.264 format. All was well until the conversion reached 99%, where it stopped. I checked out the info and it said something along the lines of "frame decoding failed maximum number of scalefactor bands exceeded" over and over and over again. I tried it again and got the same thing. Any suggestions on what I should do??? Thanks a lot!!!!

Are there any other free programs that you know of that are simple to use and can make the conversion?

Just about program can be used (including iMovie), as long as it can export video that meet's the iPod Video specs (from QTPro FAQ):

H.264 video
  • File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
  • Video: Up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3
  • Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
MPEG-4 video
  • File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
  • Video: Up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile
  • Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio

I'd suggest buying a key for QT Pro (7.0.3).
