counter-strike Linux server?

Is there a way that anyone knows of to run the counter-strike server for Linux on OS X? I've never seen the source code around, and I'm sure the precompiled binaries wouldn't work. It seems like it should be doable, but Google didn't reveal anyone talking about it. Anyone looked into this?

i doubt it...
last i knew cs was windows only as its based on half life and that a windows only game. however, if someone was able to port the server to run on linux, it might be because they hacked the cs mod to work on the quake2 server [halflife is based onthe quake2 engine].

this is all speculation...you might try and get a hold of a cs linux admin and figure out how they got it working.

I subscribed to the hlds_linux mailing list and learned what's up. THe game itself doesn't work on Linux (although you can get it to run under Wine), the server uses precompiled binaries from Valve that have all the half-life libraries. These won't work on the PPC architecture, so even PPC-Linux wouldn't be able to do it. Pretty annoying.
