I'm running on OS X and everytime I try to save anything in word/appleworks the beachball comes up. I can't get these documents to quit and neither will the finder run. It's like a partial crash or something. I can get on line and open some other programs.really appreciate if i could get some help:(

To force quit an application, you can go to the Apple menu (top left) and choose force quit and then the application. You can also do the same on the dock. Click and hold till a sub-menu comes up.
As far as crashing when saving, do a get info command on the folder you are saving to, (apple key and "I" together ) and check the privilege for it. It needs to be set for read AND write. It can cause problems if the folder isn't allowed to write to it.
You should also use disk utility (finder-apps-utilities-disk utility) and repair permissions for the disk.
Also, it is helpful when you post, to list which Mac and OS you are using.

Thanks, your 1st two suggestions didn't work but I spent some time in the disk utility and I think I've got it fixed. sorry that i didn't specify the Mac and OS X, I'm not too familar w/ computers.

No need to apologize. I'm sorry if I "sounded" rude at all. It's just that some problems are hardware or software specific, and the more info we have, the better we can help.
Is everthing working ok now?
