Creating duplict files in iPhoto

Here's my deal, I love the OSX slideshow screensaver. However it no longer works right with iPhoto. It pics up on the thumbnails and show ugly pixelated picture/slides.

Is there a way I can duplicated a picture in iPhoto then save it to it's own location on the harddrive that I can find later?
