Creative TravelSound Vs Monster iSpeaker Portable

I have recently been searching for some protable speakers for my iPod, some which don't break my student bank account! There are some awesome speakers out there designed specifically for the iPod such as the Altec Lansing inMotion Speakers, but for that price you could buy yourself some very good quality desktop speakers. Portable speakers should be 'portable' and cheap in my opinion.

I had trouble finding any decent sites with good reviews or recommendations, so here is my recommendation.

After searching endlessly on the internet, asking in stores and reading magazine reviews, I managed to rattle my choices down to two sets of speakers which would suit my needs. The Creative TravelSound and the Monster iSpeaker Poratable.

I am going to cut to the chase and tell you if you are deciding which to choose, got for the Creative TravelSound. You will not be disappointed. These things kick out awesome quality for such a compact system, they come with a neat bag to keep your speakers safe and a DC Cable to plug them in to the mains and of course a connection cable to connect the speakers to anything with a line-out socket. The TravelSound speakers also run using 4 AAA batteries.

In my opinion avoid the Monster iSpeakers, the sound quality is no where close as the Creative TravelSound and they are no where near as cool looking. They don't come with a DC Cable or a handy case for the speakers. Even though Monster have attempted to maker them look cool, they really don't once they are on display. Plus they rattle a lot with bassy music.

If you are looking for portable speakers for around £50 ($90US) (€75) then choose the Creative TravelSound!

I agree. I have the TravelSound and the only thing is I got mine before they offered it in iPod white. The ability to use it via battery power is a huge plus and it lasts a long time. The sound is super good too. I used to use an iTrip with the living room stereo but these days I either have the TravelSound plugged into the iBook, or I use it in the bedroom with the noviiremote and my iPod.
And it's great for when you're on the road as well.

But you should be able to get the TravelSound for about US$70. That's how much I paid for mine. Unless the price has gone up.
