Daytone nice look, guitarists prefers Fender!

So who knows who plays a guitar named Lucille?

And the winner is Faruvius!:D
Anyone who wants to see it (her?) should watch the new burger King commercials!! It is always a beautiful thing to hear him play Lucille.

and now, whose guitars were recently split between his estate and the original handcrafter of several of them?

Jerry Garcia played them, Doug Irwin made them. Doug gets to keep two, and the GD Productions keeps the other two.

I wouldn't mind having one of those. It'd go for millions on eBay.

it would be nice wouldn't It?:D They are exceptional works of art and beauty!! the saddest part is that Jerry is no longer around to play them!

So how is it that you are the local guitar expert?

One of my college buddies is an amazing guitar player. While I don't play guitar myself(I'm more of a drum kinda guy), I loved chatting guitars with him.

He actually is fortunate enough to be buying a custom guitar from Doug Irwin.

Before I knew the history of Mr. Irwin, I was amazed that Seth was willing to pay so much money for a guitar that he wouldn't have for 3 years.

All of my guitar knowledge is second hand from my buddy Seth. I'm just a repeating monkey ;)

wow, it really can be a small world sometimes!

So does your friend have his guitar yet or is he still waiting?

So do you play in a band or just for amusement? What did you think of the Grateful dead's two drummers and the awesome show they always performed called space? I wasn't too fond of that my first show or two eventually it became one of my favorite parts.

Do you ever listened to Billy Cobham?

My friend should be getting his guitar late this summer. To add to his collection of like 12 other guitars.

Speaking of two drummers, my fraternity had a band with two drummers. One good drummer and me banging around, with 2 guys on bass, a keyboardist, and Seth on guitar. The lead singer was this guy named Pants, who sounded alot like Dave Matthews. Or maybe it was just that he sang DMB songs the best.

I have never seen the Grateful Dead perform live, and I suppose now I never will. Maybe there will be a DVD collection or something of that nature, like Pink Floyd.

well you certainly missed something never getting to see the Grateful Dead live, especially if you're into great drumming. There are lots and lots of bootleg concert tapes in circulation. Look for a set that has the song 'space' on it-generally the second or third set. They also have some videos, all on VHS format I think, and I am pretty sure at least one does a good job of showing the drum solos. or perhaps I should say duos since everyone leaves the stage but the two drummers. Just to see the amazing set up of all the different drums and percussion instruments is something to behold. There are CDs of many of their concerts and some people have taken to selling them now that the band is gone. However, the remaining members are strongly against this and have been prosecuting record store owners who sell them. Hence they are very expensive when you can find them.

I am certainly not what you'd call a drummer, but I do enjoy drumming. I collect primitive/portable/unique drums of all types and enjoy taking them hiking or camping and playing with friends. I really enjoy the sound of pure drumming. and playing drums can be an almost spiritual experience at times.

I notice that you did not mention Billy Cobham in your response. Perhaps it you should check out some of his older works sometimes. He is a fantastic jazz drummer whose solo albums back in the '70s and early '80s were incredible. It was during this time of playing fusion jazz that he really got a chance to show off his abilities. What I have heard from him in the last decade has been much more tame.

It must have been fun playing in your fraternity band. Do you still play for your own satisfaction?
