my powermac G4 hard drive died. past my 3 year applecare plan. bought a new drive. i am trying to replace it, but can't get the carrier for the drive out. the screw was in so tight from the factory that it got stripped while i was trying. can you recommend any websites that go step by step through replacing a dead hard drive?

if i get the thing in there and go to start, do i need to start with the OS X disc in? the drive came with software but minimal instructions for a mac (of course). its a western digital 80gb drive.

any help would be most appreciated!

What model PM G4? You can put your new drive either on top of that old one and plug the ribbon in. Alternatively, you can place the new drive in the empty slot by the CD drive, and again use the ribbon. If it is like my old quicksilver, it should reach. Lets us know what model you have, for more clear help.
