Default File/Protocol application & IE...

Heyas...

One thing about osx, that i really find annoying, is the fact that the ONLY way to change the system's protocol handlers, and file-type handlers, is through IE's preferences window. I've looked at the internet prefs files, and it's all mumbo jumbo... i dunno. anyways. Is there any OTHER way of changing these settings that anyone knows of? If not, all you programmers out there, get coding! :D

Cheers,

Pengu

Actually, the correct way to change a file's handler in OSX is to select the file, Get info on it, then change the default 'open with' application in the drop down menu or by manually selecting it.

Um... im not sure there is any "Proper" way to do something... That may be the INTENDED way, but i've found that the "Open With..." thing is really buggy. And, the bugs aren't even consistent. Anyways. im more interested in the protocol handlers, because other than web & mail, i haven't found any other way to change the default protocol handlers.. :(
