Delete All Preferences?

Hello, I would appreciate it if you could help me.

Somehow, the colors on my computer (an imac running 10.2) got all messed up.

Everything is fine untill you logon, but then it suddenly changes the colors to their opposite.

I played around with all the display and colorsync prefs, and nothing worked to change it.

To test if it was the preferences, I created a new username. In that username, the colors were normal! I don't really want to run off that username because it doesn't have regular access to all the files and they aren't on the desktop.

My question is, should I delete ALL the preferences under the old username? Will it mess up the system or programs?

Thanks in advance,
-Maxim

It will mess up your programs.

If i remember right, there was somewhere hidden an option for inverting colors in System Preferences.

you can just copy preferences from the new user into the old one , one by one... and when it comes back, you are right !

Thanks guys, I got it working now. : )

What I did was move the preferences out of the system folder, and restart. I will have to re-setup the preferences for all my programs, but if I have a real problem I can move it's individual preference (I have not thrown them out) back into the system folder.

Thanks again,
-Maxim

its called universal access. It you load that system pref then the button just about smacks you in the face to turn it off and on.

try hitting apple-option-control-8 that toggles the effect off and on!

Yep, that's my guess as well. Try command-option-control-8 and return those old prefs to their proper locations. :)

Yes, Universal Access in preferencess is the accessibility settings for people with vision/hearing/other disabilities.

In 10.2.0, I messed around with them just ONCE and couldn't get them to return to normal (not for long anyway). Of course, that bug appears to be gone, thank goodness.
