Desk Top Freezing

I previously Posted this: I restarted my computer after experiencing some slowing while using FCP. After I restarted, when the desktop loaded again, it only loaded the spotlight bar in the top right corner, and nothing else. The pin wheel comes up when spot light is moused over. I tried doing a safeboot several times, the computer starts up fine then, but then the problem continues when returning to a normal start up. I also tried upgrading to 10.4.7 while in safeboot but it still continues. Any Ideas would be Awesome, Thanks!

So I Did another safe boot, and now wierd files appeared in the trash, with extensions like: .db, and .aux. any ideas would be great. Thanks!
 
It sounds like you have some major preference file corruption. The best thing to do in this situation would be to backup everything that you can, and do a complete format.

Alternatively you could try repairing permissions, then trashing your Finder preference file.
