Desktop Calendar and Weather Station

I was reading Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/) today and read an article about a new Desktop Environment/GUI for Linux (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/04/03/174249&mode=thread&tid=106&tid=185). A link (http://rox.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/index.php/WhatIsRox) in the story shows some screenshots of the new Linux GUI, but what I'm most interested in are the Desktop Calendars and Weather Station (for lack of a better term) in some of the screenshots. Look at the NOX Theme on this page here:

http://rox.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/index.php/Screenshots

The screenshot has a sunset/water scene and dock with the Desktop Calendar and Weather Station clearly visible in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Does anyone know the names of these programs and if they exist for Mac OS X? Or can be ported to Mac OS X from Linux?

I'm specifically looking for a Desktop Calendar with transparency in the text, preferrably without a border. I know that "DesktopCalendar" (author is Japenese, is located on http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/) came out with a desktop calendar soon after Mac OS X was released, but it isn't compatible with Panther. The DesktopCalendar works, but I cannot change the colors to match my existing desktop picture. Also, I just became aware of Konfabulator (http://www.konfabulator.com/) and its desktop widgets that look similar to the Linux software listed in the links above. It's shareware, not that I have anything against shareware, it's just that money is really tight right now and I'd like to find something free if possible.
