Dial up help - basic question

This problem falls into the annoying category but hopefully someone has a fix. Here goes:

If I launch IE and successfully connect to the Internet (through dial up - which is athe only means available to me), the browser just sits there looking for my home page (in this case my ISP) until eventually it times out, unable to locate the server. If at this stage I enter a URL or close the browser down and start it up again, everyhting works fine. My TCP/IP setting etc are all correct. I'm using an iMac and the internal apple56k modem.

My ISP support both transparent DNS settings and specified settings (I've tried both) but I still can't solve this.

Any help appreciated.

I think your browser doesn't like trying to find a page before it is fully connected (from memory)... but it may be something else.

I have dial up and i wait until fully connected before typing in any address. I know it's annoying but I dont' know of a way around it.

Go to your toolbar, cllck on Explorer, select Preferences. Click on Web Browser under that select Web Display. Once Web Display opens, you will see a data field for default homepage. Type in there your new URL address. This will come up every time the modem connects to your ISP.
