At our local user group meeting last night a local Mac developer was giving us a history lesson. He claims Apple wrote most of the code for Word and Excel. He said MS wrote a spreadsheet called Multimate that was horrible and that Apple re-wrote it and gave it the name Excel. He says the reason they gave the rights to MS was because they wanted it to look like other developers other than themselves were writing for the Mac and also figured the money was in the hardware. Anyone confirm or dismiss this.
