The latest version of iLive support reading and writing to both DVD +/-RW +/-R media. To find out if your SuperDrive is able to support both +R and -R media, simply open up the Terminal and type:

drutil info
 
What does the software care about the media? This is the part the drive takes care of. Or did you ever hear of an macosx supported dual format drive that did not burn any + media in certain apps?
I would rephrase the title of this thread to: How to retrieve the features of your drive.
And DVD +/- R/RW Dual-layer/single layer can be read on any DVD drive or at least should.
 
Well heck! I didn't know my PowerBook could write DVD-RW discs! Cool!

Now I just need a use for this ability.... hrm... Why would I need to re-write 4.7 gigs of info?...
