Direct ethernet to ethernet OS X to WinXP Pro?

I need to transfer some files (MP3s) from my iMac to my sister's Toshiba laptop. There are too many to use CDs, so I want to connect the ethernet cables together, but how to I get the computers to recognise each other?

Thanks :)

Does it pose a problem that I have my iMac set up to use PPPoE for ADSL, and my sister's laptop is configured to connect to a Novell network at school?

You can access the tutorial here.
