Disk Copy

Okay here we go: I'm downloaded the new iPod 1.2.6 update from apple.com. That seems to download FINE. But, when I click on what I downloaded, a screen pops up and says "No default application specified to open the document "iPod 1.2.6". I run it through disk copy, and there it says: "(-8816) The file "iPod 1.2.6" does not have a recognized file type."

What's wrong? It seems to do this to anything else I try to download that is a .dmg or .sit file. Help me!

iMac 800MGh PowerPC G4
Mac OS X 10.2.4

Please let me know of any ideas or suggestions that would help me. Thank you!

If you try to open them with "other" (ctrl- or right click) / disk copy (application, for .dmg) or stuffit (for .sit) - do they open or you still get the error? Or Opening disk copy from Applications / Utilities and dragging the .dmg file to it, or dragging the .sit to an open stuffit window - do those work? If they work, use the "open always with" for those filetypes so it won't do that again.
