Dissecting dmg files from Software Restore

Let me explain....

When I first got my PowerBook G4 Apple included many mp3 files in iTunes (version for 9.0). I somehow wrote over them and they did not transfer when I converted to 10.1. I assume they are in the Software Restore disks that came with the powerbook.

I seem to recall a tip of doing a partial software restore using some kind of Disk Copy-like utility. Any idea how I can look at my Software Restore CDs and extract the mp3 files from the correct dmg or tome?

Many thanks.

Did you try double clicking on the file to see if Disk Copy will automatically open them?

You might need to copy the .dmg files to your hard drive, then double click on them. Disk Copy should take over. The trouble is that you will need to trash the file if it isn't what you are looking for.

Do you still have OS 9 on your machine? Or did you totally wipe your hard drive clean? If you still have classic, then you possibly still have those files, they should be in the OS 9 documents folder in the iTunes folder.
