Hey guys, has anyone tried this software? I want to try to dictation features to get audio into my Mac as text. Please let me know if anyoone has experience with this!

you can also do your own site search for viavoice and find other threads on this software. the important thing to keep in mind is that it isn't going to work great right out of the box. it needs to be trained to your voice patterns before it gets accurate enough to use for anything too important.

Thanks for the tip! Those posts are a from a few years ago.

Anyway though I'll do more searches to continue my quest for the truth.

A side note, does the 12" iBook have all the jacks required to use a piece of software like this? I know it has a built in mic, but is there a place to plug in an external one?

The external mic used is a USB mic, so yes.

I have never seen a USB mic, they have USB everything these days.

I could be wrong, but I believe ViaVoice comes with the mic.

yea, it comes with the mic. in fact, it seems to only work properly with the mic provided.
