Is there such thing as a "docklette"? I read it somewhere but i can't remember. I did a little mac research before i actualy got my first one. And i came acrosse the docklette thing, and something is making me thing that is has something to do with REALbasic. Also is there anyway you could make a little folder type icon on the doc, that when you click on it a pop-up menu of aliases would come up and you could select one, Say a folder with all your games in it, just sittin in the dock to take up less space?

"Docklings" they're called. Nope, not made in REALBasic, they're done in Project Builder.

Um, yeah, get a folder, put a bunch of aliases in it, and drag the folder onto the Dock. Do a control-click (or right click if you have a multi-button mouse) on it, and it'll list the contents of the folder rather than opening it up.

Where could i find a website that has come docklings on them? What is their typical use? Like tickers and what not?

What are Docklings in the first place?

Yeah, you can just stick a folder into your Dock with aliases in it and control/right-click it. You can do the same with your hard drive.

As of Mac OS X v 10.2, Docklings are kinda phased out, in favor of... (drumroll, please)... menulings. You can probably still use docklings, but Apple isn't making them anymore.

Apple didn't make any aside from a battery status and airport dockling. Any others you saw were made by 3rd parties.

And yep, they still work as of 10.2, but you can't really depend on 'em. There was lots of talk on the developer lists on docklings when 10.1 came out, and most of the talk was about Apple phasing them out. It's somewhat suprising that they still work in 10.2. ;)
