Okay folks... I spend hours SORTING thorugh your posts to put them in the appropriate forum. I'd rather not have to do this... I am not your mother. :) So please, if its iMac related, post it in the iMac forum, OS X software related, the General Software for OS X discussion, or something specific to Mac OS X, post it in Mac OS X forum.

This forum is great for disucssing MacWorld, general Mac opinions, and late breaking items... the new iMac with discussions related to hardware, should go into the iMac forum... if you are just praising or cursing the design, then your fine, post it here.

thanks admin, i am glad you did this... i am sick of so many "iMac LCD" this and "Rumors" that all over the general discussion forum page.

Hello!

Admin: I do not know if you got the private message I sent you so I am going to ask you again. I am willing to help you out with the sorting, moving and closing of topics. What do I need to do to be able to do this?

Have a great day!

Albert

For whatever it's worth I'm going to voice my dissent.

This board doesn't get enough traffic to divide the groups into tiny little topics. Yeah, I know it got crazy because every idiot and his mother started a duplicate thread about a rumor or a new product.

However, that kind of super traffic only happens around mac world. Now what we're left with is a board filled with dead topics/forums.

I differ again with you vanguard. I think this has put traffic at just about the right speed around here. There are several ways to moniter where new posts are . I have noticed more of the forums moving at an even keel this way with 'normal' amounts of posting being done. new posts are not disappearing overnight anywhere.

in fact, all thoughts non-technical is the forum which has really picked up lately. this is a good sign that there are not rashes of major problems occurring now. so please come down and join us for some coffee and friendly bs. (bring your own coffee, we'll supply the bs)

hey, we even got our first semi-technical question a couple of days ago and it got answered quicker than the ones in general discussion:)

I HATE duplicate threads :p
I mod in another forum and many times I have to either delete threads that are unresponded to, or merge several threads to keep things tify

I dont know why people get the urge to post the same thing over and over :p

Ed: You and I never agree. Almost everything we write comes from opposite viewpoints. I think you're a nice guy with a good heart. It's just too bad that you're never right. :p (smiley with tounge sticking out)

Admiral: I hate duplicate posts too. As a matter of fact, I've started spending more time on forums.macnn.com because the crowd there is more hostile. I know it's not for everybody but hostile people get the newbies in line quickly.

Here, if you suggest that somebody is lazy because they didn't bother to check the current posts before writing then you're a jerk. You're also a jerk for pointing out that somebody is wrong if their posts are completely fact-free. (Not just opinion stuff, but even incorrect facts are supposed to be tolerated.) If you correct people in a hostile forum then you're on the ball.

Again, I know that style of forum isn't for everybody but I kind of like it better. I can't stand to see people write as if they were knowledgable on a topic or as if they made some great find when the truth is they are way behind the curve. Anyway, if I ran things they would be much different. Some people would like it more, others would like it less. One thing is for sure, Herve would be banned. :)

I'm sick of rambling threads and BS rumor posts so I am all for separating these out! A Rumors area, a general discussion area, a tech support area, all good by me! Admin, keep up the good work.

Ed, I'm with ya buddy ;)

As a newbie to these here boards but a long standing member of others (music related) I can understand where you are coming from...I'm a bit confused about where to post however...

I wanted to do some kind of post where I could introduce myself to the members here and say hello...but I'm not sure where it would go...

I guess I'll just say hello here and just say that I look forward to getting more into the discussions 'round these boards :)

Hello!

Izzy, here is what I do: first, if it is not about computers put it in All Thoughts Non-Technical and second if it is about computers use one of the other catagories but if none of those fit then post it in General Discussion. Only exception to this is the Site News and Volunteer forums.

Welcome to MacOSX.com!

Thanks for the warm welcome Albert and the advice :) I will keep that in mind as I continue to post.

izzy, hello's are said in 'all thoughts non technical' at the bottom of the front forums page. the only people who care about hello's visit there often enough. You will find a recent hello thread already started there. looking forward to seeing yours.:)

btw - who is that vanguard charachter and why is he saying these awful things about me:confused: ;) :D

Isn't it about time we got rid of the two sticky messages? They take up prime space in the forum and they were really written to help with the volume the board had around mac world.
