Drives Will NOT Mount!

We are using 10.2.1 on a PowerMac Dual 1ghz, and suddenly CD-ROM’s in the Superdrive and two raids configured with the Apple Disk Utility will not mount. Yesterday, we restarted and the drives did not mount on startup; however, they did when we opened the disk utility application. Since then we have been totally unable to mount the raids or any CD-ROM. The two troublesome raids are attached to an Adaptec 39160 scsi card. We also have a small medea video raid attached to an Adaptec 2930 which is working perfectly.

If anyone knows what may be happening please let me know, since we are crippled without access to the CD-ROM or our raids.

Have you used Apple System Profiler to take a look at your drive IDs? It's possible that one or both of the raids got switched to the SuperDrive's ID. To test this try restarting without the raids hooked up. If the superDrive works try hooking just one of the raids up and then the other separately to see if one is conflicting. Did I mention that you should shut down, disconnect the drives, and then restart the computer.

Hope that helps you figure out the problem.

Sounds like this requires a call to Apple Tech Support. If you're out of warrenty, get your credit card in hand, it may end up costing you a minimum of $50.
