Eek . . .
All i have is a light grey screen if I let the computer boot unless I boot off a CD?
Help. . . . After installing a new 200Gb Maxor drive to an existing system and doing some work it all of a sudden hung. . . . I did a 'soft off' by holding the power button in and turning it back on there was nothing but a grey screen?
After getting Disk 1 of panther into the machine, and booting off that, the disk utility tells me it can't see any of the three HDs in the machine and only shows the CD/CD drive?
Has anyone seen this behaviour before?
I can only think the ATA controller has gone on the Logicboard? The CD/DVD Rom is still available and has power which would suggest its not a power supply problem. . . As for the HDs I can't tell if the drives are spinning up because of the general fan noise from the CPU.
Does Firmware for the Logicboard get stored on the Logicboard . . . I wonder if that might have been corrupted in someway?
I have removed all but one drive and still disk utility can't see that?
Help . . . this is a really horrible fault.
Cheers
P.s. - Oh I've zapped the PRAM too . . . it still doesn't work.
