I just recently purchased my dual USB iBook 600Mhz, with 384 MB RAM, running OSX and I love it! but...
My last computer was a 2001 clamshell iBook SE and watched DVDs on the display and sent audio to my stereo using the A/V cable all the time with no problem. To do this (in OS 9) I simply selected the res in the monitors control panel that didn't display on a tv, and the DVD picture showed up on my display and I still sent audio signal to my stereo. Now here's my prob:
On my new iBook, with my A/V cable connected to my speakers, the DVD picture doesn't show up on my display, because it thinks I'm sending video to a television. I don't own a tv! LOL. I know it's a software issue, because I was able to do it on my old iBook. (yes, i've tried booting in OS 9 -- same problem) As far as I can see, there's just no monitor setting that doesn't send video to a tv--as long as the A/V chord is connected.
I was surprised that I couldn't find anyone else here with the same prob.
Can someone help?
