Hi all,
I am new to OS X at 10.4.x. I have a working LJ1320 set up as an IPP printer. This is a duplex printer, however I see NO information on how to set it up to use duplex or to be able to select duplex during printing.

So far no luck on the HP site. Any ideas? All help appreciated. I will read if you have a link to information.

Thanks,

Bob

01. Select your applications' 'File, Print...' menu item.
02. From the drop down 'Print' sheet, click on the third (untitled) pop up menu (the other two being 'Printer:' and 'Presets:') and select the 'Layout' menu item.
03. When the bottom portion of the drop down sheet refreshed, you will see the 'Two-Sided:' - 'Off', 'Long-edged binding', and 'Short-edged binding' radio buttons. Click on the 'Long-edged binding' (for typical printing), or the 'Short-edge binding', radio button, and then the 'Print' button.

thanks,
I kept looking in printer setup for a way to enable duplex printing. Guess OS X is smarter than WinXP.

By the by, I tried to log into cups admin via http://localhost:631. It asks for a password. I tried my administrator password without luck. Do you know is Apple has given this a unique preassigned password? I have never assigned a password for or made a user named 'root' like I have on my Linux box.

Thanks again!

Bob

As per 'http://localhost:631/sam.html', under 'I Can't Do Administration Tasks from My Web Browser!' -

3. not setting a password on the root account. CUPS will not authenticate a user account that does not have a password for security reasons.

----

I did not have a 'root' password, and was unable to proceed via the drop down sheet (after clicking on the 'Do Administration Task' link).

Once (a 'root' password was) created (via - 'NetInfo Manager' ['/Applications/Utilities/' folder]), and 'root' and the new password were entered into the drop down sheet (after clicking on the 'Do Administration Task' link) I was able to proceed.
