DVD error code 0x80020025 on iMac

Hi,

When trying to burn a DVD on my external Sony burner (model DRX-840U) I get error code:0x80020025, "this disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported." I'm using an iMac with 10.5.7.

The drive worked fine last week. Now it consistently brings up the error code when inserting a DVD.

I've tried:
*Relaunching finder
*Attempted burning under a different login on the computer
*Restarting the computer
*I've searched every forum I can think of and nothing has worked.

Is it burning from iTunes or just creating a burn folder and burning the contents? First you should try to zapping the PRAM. You may want to try different types of media, perhaps it has something to do with the DVDs you are using. Also try burning at slower speeds as opposed to maximum possible to see what happens. Otherwise there is a good chance it just needs a new optical drive.
