dvd not mounting

Dear Help
My imac G5 has started ejecting dvds without mounting them, THis happens with some commercial dvds but all the time when i try and pur a blank dvd-r on the mac. The dvd spins around for a bit and then ejects. i have reset the pvram thing and hasnt made a differance. all updates are current. plaes jelp - is is a software porb or hardware? dont want to send mac to apple as is my work computer

Hi, just clean everything with a CO2 can and use DVD cleaning disk as many times as necessary. It should be fine after... I had the same problem on a powermac G5 and I had to open it up and clean up the entire computer. Good luck!
