DVD on TV

I was not able to get my Powerbook G4 playing DVD on the TV Screen with OS X 10.1.1 and DVD Player 3.01. it just says "hardware not supported" when TV output is on. Any ideas? With 9.2.2 the same setting works with no problems.

OSX DVD player doesn't support external monitors yet, simple as that.

This thread tells the story so far.

Wish they'd sort it out, as it's the only thing that I have to use OS9 for...

Well, thanks a lot for the fast answer. :)
It saves me at least trying out every configuration option (resolution, frequency).

Connect your PB to the TV. Start the PB, close it immediately. Open it again. NOw the LCD screen stays blank, because the main screen is the TV screen.

This way, you can watch DVD on the TV even with Mac OS X. It's clumsy, but it works.

Unfortunately, you still have to restart. And this isn't supporting dual monitors, just making the Tibook think the TV IS the monitor. But better than nowt, I spose

Ya, like the iBook, I guess it'll mirror the screen to the composite output. But why doesn't the Powerbook just do that, too?

Hehe, it's really simple on my iBook, once I plug the jack in the A/V port, it instantly mirrors the screen to it, and when watching DVD's, the screen turn black :)
