Problem: I put new, good quality DVDs into the macbookpro to record data. Often the DVDs are ejected after a fairly long wait (+- 40secs). Sometimes I am able to record and sometimes the DVD is ejected during burning.
I had this problem 3 months ago and got advice from a techie from Vancouver Island, BC. I can't remember how we did it---some simple code changes in the underlying code. It worked. It was Ticket #345164---tried to find it-no luck.
