dvi/vga audio interference

I have my G4 1.42 mini hooked up to my stereo receiver using a basic 1/8" stereo jack to rca plug. The sound is great, much better than the mini's built in speakers, but I have run into one problem. There is some sort of interference coming from my speaker when the input the mini is on is selected. It is a low buzz, only audible when nothing is being played. There is also a "wiggle," for lack of a better word, in my display when the audio cable is plugged in. Through some trial and error I've been able to isolate the issue to a conflict between the audio port and the dvi (connected via adapter to my vga monitor) port. If I unplug the audio, the "wiggle" goes away, and if I unplug the display, the buzz goes away.

Of course, this isn't a satisfactory setup, as it is impossible to use the computer without a display and unplugging cables constantly isn't what I want to do. Anyone have any ideas why this occurs and/or solutions? Thanks so much!

This may not be a solution, but it's worth a try looking at the power supply. I know that I get interference when something is fluctuating or sucking a lot of power from an outlet that a speaker is using.

This is an interesting guess actually, because the one time the problem went away was after I was messing with the surge protector the mini and the receiver are both plugged in to. I'll have to give that another look, possibly attempt to find different outlets or surge protectors to plug the two in.

Thanks for the suggestion.
